The main objective of this website is to create an accessibility matrix for those people with very limited or no use of their hands and provide them information about using existing and emerging assistive technologies to access broadcasting content through set-top boxes and broadcaster smartphone based applications.

Currently, the end user requires the assistance of a technician or an occupational therapist to set up an Assistive Technology (AT) or Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC) with environmental control by trial and error using method due to lack of a complete broadcasting accessibility matrix.

This website provides an accessibility matrix of necessary equipment and the instructions for setting up each Assistive technology (AT), Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC), and Environmental Control System with broadcaster set-top boxes.

The following process can be used to perform a search in the accessibility matrix:

  1. You would need to select your broadcasting provider. Please contact your service provider if you are not sure about your existing service plan.
  2. Next, You would need to select your set-top box model. The set-top box model can be found on the front of the set-top box. Please contact your service provider or technician for more information if you are not sure about your set-top box model.
  3. You need to select the Assistive technology (AT) or the Augmentative and alternative communication (AAC) device. This is the device you are planning to use as input to operate your set-top box.
  4. The website will automatically list the additional communication hub devices if it is required by the selected combination of broadcasting provider, set-top box model, and assistive technology.
  5. Next , You need to select your communication hub device if it is required based on your selections. This is the device used to send commands from your AT or AAC device to your set-top box.
  6. Finally, You would need to press the search button to get results for the combination of selected devices.
  7. A table will appear with simplified information about functionality and compatibility of tested broadcasting features.
  8. There are setup instructions for each device and details about functionality of broadcasting feature which can be downloaded as PDF files.
  9. The provided videos can assist you with setup process of selected devices and their usage.
